City Tour Cusco - Half Day Itinerary
Cusco, known as the “Historical Capital of Peru”, is a magical city located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. This millenary city was the capital of the Inca Empire and still preserves vestiges of its glorious past, fused with Inca and Spanish colonial architecture.
Its cobblestone streets, picturesque squares and historic buildings offer a journey through time, where past and present intertwine in a fascinating way. In addition, its cultural richness is reflected in its gastronomy, art, music and traditional festivities that attract visitors from all over the world.
Tour Schedule
To adapt to the preferences and schedules of our visitors, we offer two pick up options for our City Tour in Cusco.
The first pick up time starts at 9:00 am until 14: 00 hours.
The second pick up schedule is offered in the afternoon starting at 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
In both schedules we will visit the Main Square, entrance to the Cathedral of Cusco (optional), the Qoricancha Temple, then we go to the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and finish in Tambomachay.
First stop: Visit Qoricancha and optional visit to the Cusco Cathedral
Our first destination is the impressive Temple of the Sun, also known as Qoricancha. This archaeological site is a testament to Inca ingenuity and masterful construction.
Here, visitors can marvel at the perfection of Inca architecture and the fusion with the Spanish influence after the conquest. Keep in mind that the entrance ticket to this site will cost S/ 20.00 from May 1st.
Our next stop is to tour Cusco's Main Square, and optionally visit the majestic Cathedral of Cusco, a masterpiece of colonial art that houses an impressive collection of religious art and Cuzco paintings. This optional visit allows travelers to further immerse themselves in the history and culture of Cusco, exploring its religious and artistic heritage.
Next stop: Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay
Continuing our tour, we head to the impressive ruins of Sacsayhuaman, an Inca fortress located on the outskirts of Cusco. Here, visitors can admire the magnificence of the enormous carved stones and learn about the construction techniques used by the Incas.
Next, we enter the archaeological complex of Qenqo, a sacred site where religious ceremonies were held, travelers can explore the stone labyrinths and ceremonial altars, while learning about the spiritual beliefs and practices of the Incas.
The next stop is Puca Pucara, a military fortress and administrative center that served to protect the entrance to Cusco. Here, visitors can marvel at the panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and appreciate the strategic planning of the Incas in defending their empire.
Finally, we arrive at Tambomachay, known as the “Bath of the Inca,” a complex of fountains and water channels that were used for ritual and ceremonial purposes. This place offers a fascinating look at the Incas' connection with water and its importance in their cosmovision.
