Choquequirao is a lost Inca city located in the Vilcabamba Valley in southern Peru. Considered one of the most important Inca cities after Machu Picchu, Choquequirao was built in the 15th century and abandoned in the 16th century. It stands out for its impressive architecture, agricultural terraces, and panoramic views of the Apurímac Canyon. 📅Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca (L)(D)

The first day of the trek begins at 6:00 a.m. with pickup from your hotel and transfer to Cachora. Along the way, you will see the archaeological remains of Tarawasi from the bus. Then, you’ll continue to Cunyac Bridge, which marks the border between Cusco and Apurímac. You’ll pass through the districts of Curawasi and Saywute before arriving in Cachora around 10:00 a.m. From Cachora, the hike begins along a gently sloping trail leading to the Capuliyoc Pass at 2800 m.a.s.l., where lunch will be served after about two hours of walking. The trek then continues with a descent toward the village of Chiquisca at 1930 m.a.s.l., offering warm weather and impressive views. The descent takes about three hours, and the first night will be spent camping here.

📅Day 2: Chiquisca – Playa Rosalina – Sunchupata (B)(L)(D)

After breakfast at 5:00 a.m., the hike continues toward Playa Rosalina (1550 m.a.s.l.). From there, the ascent to Santa Rosa (2100 m.a.s.l.) begins — the most challenging section of the route, taking about three hours.

After lunch in Santa Rosa, the hike continues toward Marampata (2850 m.a.s.l.), with a gentler climb. From here, you can enjoy views of the previous day’s route and the lush vegetation of the area.

Camping will take place in Sunchupata, about two hours of hiking away. This campsite is located just one hour from Choquequirao.

📅Day 3: Sunchupata – Choquequirao – Chiquisca (B)(L)(D)

The day starts early at 5:00 a.m. to reach Choquequirao in time to witness the sunrise. For about three hours, the guide will explain the historical significance of this Inca site as you explore Inca structures such as houses, temples, and terraces.

At the scheduled time, we’ll begin the return to Sunchupata, descending to Santa Rosa for lunch. Then, we’ll continue down toward Playa Rosalina and finally reach Chiquisca, where we’ll camp for the night.

📅Day 4: Chiquisca – Capuliyoc – Cachora (B)(L)

Breakfast will be served at 6:00 a.m. in Chiquisca before returning along the same route to Cachora. The ascent to the Capuliyoc Pass takes about two hours, followed by another two hours of trekking to reach Cachora. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of snow-capped mountains and the Apurímac Canyon.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the thermo-medicinal hot springs of Qonoq before returning to Cusco, arriving around 8:00 p.m. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of this unforgettable tour.
