Cusco transforms into a grand celebration throughout the month of June. Declared the Jubilee Month, it’s the time when the city pays tribute to its history, faith, and cultural identity. From offerings to Pachamama to the majestic Inti Raymi reenactment, each day is filled with rituals, parades, music, dances, and popular fervor.
If you’re planning to travel to Cusco, June is the ideal time to experience the living culture of the Andes. Below is the complete and updated schedule of the main festivities and key events of Cusco’s Jubilee Month.
June 1–30 – City Flag Display
Throughout June, Cusco displays its multicolored flag on homes, balconies, plazas, and avenues. It’s a gesture of identity and pride. Residents are also encouraged to paint facades to showcase a clean, colorful, and welcoming city for visitors.

June 1 – Offering to Pachamama
The month begins with an ancestral ceremony to give thanks to Mother Earth. Authorities, local communities, and tourists gather in the Plaza de Armas to offer coca leaves, chicha, and food, asking for blessings for the upcoming festivities. A ritual full of respect, energy, and spirituality.

June 8 (Second Sunday) – Q’eswachaka Bridge Renewal
In the province of Canas, local communities hand-weave an Inca bridge made of ichu (Andean grass) over the Apurímac River. For four days, men and women work together to rebuild the bridge, accompanied by dances, songs, and rituals. This millennia-old tradition has been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

June 9–20 – Traditional Dance Parades
For nearly two weeks, educational institutions of all levels fill the streets with traditional dances, folk costumes, and stunning choreographies:
- June 9: Parade of the Andean University of Cusco

- June 19: Cultural allegory parade by the School of Fine Arts
Each parade is a display of art, regional identity, and student pride.

In the highlands of the Sinakara glacier, pilgrims gather for the Lord of Qoyllur Rit’i, or “Snow Star Festival.” Thousands of devotees and dancers, alongside the mythical Ukukus (mountain guardians), take part in rituals of faith, sacrifice, and spiritual connection with the Apus. This event blends Christian and ancestral elements and can reach temperatures as low as -4°C.
