Day 2: Sacred Valley Excursion

After breakfast, between 08:30 and 08:45 am, we pick you up from the hotel to start the guided tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit the indigenous fair of Pisaq, which takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, where locals engage in commercial exchanges as their ancestors did in ancient times.

Continue with a buffet lunch at a local restaurant.

Then head to the town and fortress of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions by jungle dwellers. You will have the opportunity to walk through the streets of the town to get a clear idea of what this military, religious, and cultural center was like during the Inca Empire. Return to Cusco via Chincheros, where you will find the remains of the royal estate of Tupac Inca Yupanqui. Admire its well-preserved Inca wall in the main square and visit the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes on the portico, built on the foundations of an Inca building.

Return to the hotel in Cusco.

Day 3: Cusco - Machu Picchu.

Breakfast at the hotel.

At approximately 6:00 am, we will transfer you to the Poroy train station to take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will arrive around 11:00 am.

In Aguas Calientes, our staff will be waiting to take you on the buses that will take you to the citadel of Machu Picchu, on a winding road for about 30 minutes.

In the citadel, our guide will be waiting to start the guided tour of approximately 2 hours, through the main sectors of the citadel: Agricultural, Civil, Military, and Religious, visiting the Intiwatana, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Condor, and other important sectors.

Later, you will have free time to explore the city on your own, and around 2:00 pm, we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch. In the afternoon, return by train to Cusco, where we will be waiting for you at the Poroy station to transfer you to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

Day 4: Maras, Moray, and Salineras Excursion.

Breakfast at the hotel.

Our tour starts with pick-up from your hotel, between 08:30 and 08:45 am, to head to the town of Maras, passing through very typical towns and beautiful landscapes that you can enjoy along the way. Arrival and visit to the following places:

MARAS: Located in the Urubamba province at 3300 meters above sea level. From there, you can see the Vilcanota mountain range and the snow-capped peaks: "El Chikón" (5530 meters above sea level) and "La Verónica" (5682 meters above sea level).

Currently, this picturesque town preserves attractions from the pre-Hispanic, colonial, and republican periods, with colonial streets and doorways adorned with the shields of nobles and chiefs from the 17th and 18th centuries.

MORAY: Located about 7 km southwest of Maras and 53 km from Cusco, at an altitude of 3,385 meters above sea level, it is a unique archaeological group in the region. It consists of giant natural holes that were used by the Incas, who built terraces or agricultural platforms with their respective irrigation canals. It is a prototype of a greenhouse, with the largest hole reaching a depth of 150 meters and an average terrace height of 1.80 meters, between each of them.

The structures found here are Inca, and it is also estimated that the bottom is on a natural rocky formation that facilitates filtration into the interior of the earth, which is why there are no floods during the rainy season. What is striking is the annual average temperature difference between the top and bottom, which can reach up to 15°C. This place has seen incredible advances in agriculture.

SALINERAS: or "SALT MINES", located northwest of the town of Maras, consist of about 2000 small wells, which were already exploited since the Inca period as a means of economic exchange and continue to be exploited by locals today. They indicate that the mountain has salt mines inside it, a spring of salt water that emanates from the mountain, which is used during the dry season to fill the wells with salt water every 3 days for a month, so that it gradually solidifies. Later, the salt in the wells will be processed for consumption in the region.

After our visit, we will return to the city of Cusco.
